10 adventures for every man part 2

Fireworks fight Greece

This adventure takes place on the Greek Island of Chios during Easter, where a massive fireworks battle with over 50 000 rockets raining down on two small towns

This event is sponsored by two rival churches, and the object of this brightly coloured activity is to hit the other
churches bell.

DANGER  7/10 - the only thing you have to worry about is getting hit by a stray, off target rocket.
FUN 8/10 - you get to shoot fire works rockets at a church bell.
ADVENTURE 6/10 - you are in a different country, that is always an adventure.
ADRENALINE 6/10 - unless they decide to swap the fire works rockets for the real thing, i reckon your adrenaline levels wont hit any new heights

7. Skydiving

If you feel like being a dare devil, and want the feeling of weightlessness, then this is definitely one to add to your bucket list of adventures. The research I did on this particular adrenaline rushing, scary as heck activity shows that people who did this adventure were more likely than any other adventure to go back and do it again, that is how addictive it is.

Warning though, from what I have read, don't bother paying for this activity and then not going through with it, it is quite costly in some parts of the world, and once you are in the plane there is no going back.

DANGER  9/10 - you are always hoping that your parachute opens, and that the trainer knows what he is doing.
FUN  8/10 - fun part jumping out of a plane hundreds of meters above ground, what could be more fun!!
ADVENTURE  6/10 - depending how far you have to drive, there is not really a big adventure hype to this activity.
ADRENALINE 10/10 - free falling for a few seconds while you are hurdling towards earth at a scream curling speed.

8. 3 day technology hiatus

If you want to get away from it all, and just survive on the bear essentials for a few days, then this would be an option, how it works is you leave all technology behind, such as cell phones, ipods, lighters, and matches, and torches, as you trek into the wilderness to test yourself and your wit against nature and what it can throw at you.

It would be advisable though to do a survival course first, and to do enough research on the area you are going into to make sure you know what is edible and what wild life might decide to stalk you, and also when you decide to leave on your 3 day technology hiatus to inform friends and family where you will be going and for how long, and also that you will not be taking any form of modern technology with. If you still feel the urge to take some sort of communication with then a cell phone is permitted but keep it off, you are there to experience nature and the peace that it has to offer.

It would also be advisable at first not to go alone, but with a few willing mates just in case of an emergency, also to make sure you don't go mad and turn wild and never return to civilisation.

DANGER  7/10 - depending on which part of the world you are in, there is always a risk of bumping into the local wild life.
FUN  7/10 - in the wilderness with mates, could get interesting, bloke always find ways to amuse themselves.
ADVENTURE  9/10 - you have no technology, you are stripped down to 1820 settlers gear, and in the bush, couldn't get any better.
ADRENALINE  6/10 - like i mentioned before, unless you are chased by the local wild life, adrenaline rush wont get any higher.

9. kayak down a river

This one is definitely high on the adventure ratings, especially if you going to go down a river for a few days with mates, with all your camping and fishing equipment on your kayaks

It is best if you do some homework on which river you will be going down, and when the flood season is, also that you have first aid kit and enough supplies for your trip, also making sure that you have you have had some practice on a kayak and that you know for definite exactly how long the river is. The last thing you want is for the Rescue services to have to pick you up because you got lost or were not properly equipped or had planned the route out carefully, it will just be embarrassing, and you friends and family wont let you live it down.

DANGER 7/10 - strong currents, and local wild life that think you are food or locals that want your kit
FUN  7/10 - kayaking, fishing, and camping, three of the best outdoor activities bunch into one trip
ADVENTURE 8/10 - exploring parts a river that would otherwise be inaccessible to vehicles, or even people hiking.
ADRENALINE 8/10 - if you kayak gets turned over, or you hit heavy rapids, it could get hairy.

10. Cliff Jumping

If you don't have a problem with heights and also don't have a problem jumping into dark water with out knowing what is below, then this adventure would be ideal for a day excursion. And it would basically cost you nothing.

What you need to do is find a river obviously, and a high cliff that meets up with this river, if you not sure how deep the water is, and like most of us we don't want crushed legs or end up with a concussion and being dragged out the river like a rag doll, then you could always take some string attached to a lead sinker with 1 meter marker intervals on the string, and drop it into the water preferably the area where you will jumping into, this will always give you a pretty good indication how deep it is and if there are any rocks just below the service, you could also put on goggles and dive down to see exactly where the rocks are or if there are any at all.

It would be advisable to go with mates just in case you get overly brave and start to act like Tarzan and smack your head open.

DANGER  8/10 - you are jumping off a high rock into dark water, in the middle of nowhere..enough said.
FUN  8/10 - being with mates, climbing a cliff, and jumping off into water, not to mention the braai/barbecue you can have on the rock.
ADVENTURE  7/10 - depending on how deep you have to go into the bush to find this cliff.
ADRENALINE 9/10 - high cliffs, cold water, and the slight possibility of cracking your head open, can definitely make for an extreme adrenaline rush.
