The Bachelors Pad

Try to avoid clichés when designing a bachelor pad. Unsure of a particular design style, then
transitional interiors are a great middle ground between traditional and modern. Modern too cold or sparse and traditional too stuffy then the ideal style will be transitional.

Transitional is clean, classic and updated, living room sofa sleek and modern pair it with a classic, traditional style coffee table. Use modern art, rustic accents.

With a modern bachelor pad you need to strive for a minimalist environment, choose furnishings carefully and not out dated or with a lot of ornamentation. Keep it simple and sleek, pleasing to the eye and fits into your colour scheme.

The most important part of decorating is to make it something you will enjoy, it is your home and you have to live and look at it everyday.

  1. Wall colours are very important and have a definite impact on the atmosphere that you want to create. Two classic colour choices are grey and brown which work well in a manly space. You have to pair it with the right accent colours, fire-engine reds and deep violets work best. A colour palette will consist of a main colour and one or two accent colours. Throw pillows and art work can display the accent colour through the bachelor pad. Use dark colours for smaller and cosier look and light, neutral colours for a more spacious or larger look.
  2. Windows – go for solids with a metallic sheen or rough textures. For the high end touch window treatments must be lined. For privacy and natural light go for bottom up blinds. It will safe electricity by letting natural light in and at the same time give you privacy.
  3. To set the mood – a large floor lamp and a couple of accent lights with dimmer switches will set the mood with lighting.
Your modern bachelor pad should be a place where a woman and friends feels comfortable.

Enjoy decorating your manly pad.
